This newly purchased 2011 Audi A8 Quattro L 4.2L was brought to us for a post-purchase inspection. With 55,000 miles coming up soon, we replaced the engine air filter, cabin air filter, brake fluid, spark plugs, and filled with premium Motul USA X-cess 5w40 fully synthetic engine oil for improved protection.
Afterwards, we went ahead and replaced the front thrust arm bushings next. We found they the were worn and leaking hydraulic fluid. These bushings are mounted on suspension and steering joints to absorb road shock and reduce noise. When bushings wear, they allow more movement. The vehicle will handle poorly and produce clunking or rattling noises on rough roads, when turning or in hard braking.
